In a previous post, I mentioned that I found “My Favorite Place for Now” in the San Diego area. I received an offer to extend my contract. I was super excited and jumped on that opportunity as I enjoy the area so much.
I outreached to the current landlord to share my exciting news with the hope of extending my rental another 13.5 weeks. His response “I can extend it for 1 week if necessary but have some much needed construction scheduled.” Color me silly, but a rental house, by the beach, in the summertime may be a stretch for not renting due to construction. My thoughts immediately went to he will likely be renting the house weekly for what this travel nurse pays for monthly. It is what it is and I certainly didn’t want to take that on, nor was it offered. Ugh. My least favorite aspect of travel nursing reared its ugly head during my joy of learning I was able to stay in the San Diego area longer. Oh well, it’s part of the process. Started to look for another place for Ninja and I to live.
While searching for housing, I learned a very fun fact: Dr. Seuss lived in La Jolla, CA (a suburb of San Diego). Many of his books, including The Lorax, were written on inspiration he obtained from the gorgeousness of the area. If you click the next section you’ll learn all about it: Dr. Seuss Stories Created in La Jolla
“It was during his time in La Jolla that he would write 48 books including “Horton Hears a Who!,” “The Cat in the Hat,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”

I was able to find our next temporary housing, you guessed it, in La Jolla. Now I will be working and living in the area where Dr. Seuss accomplished all his best writing. Who knows, maybe I too will obtain a plethora of writing inspiration during my time in La Jolla. Time will tell….
That’s so cool!!!!
